Vodafone Germany's vision was to create an internal app which is at first sight a Flipboard for corporate news, gathering all corporate information in one app and bringing internal news to the mobile devices of their employees. In collaboration with ORTEC, they launched a mobile app, named “V – die Vodafone MitarbeiterAPP”, in which they spread internal news to increase the level of employee engagement and share the corporate culture.

  • Bringing internal news to the mobile devices of employees

    Vodafone Germany was looking for a new, mobile-first multimedia content channel they use for corporate storytelling and provide the latest news from inside the company. By making the Vodafone MitarbeiterAPP available on the web, iOS and Android devices, they are giving employees access to internal news whenever they want and wherever they are.

  • Quickly share internal news updates

    Vodafone Germany can share the latest updates with its employees at any moment of the day, without hassle. Steffen Henke, Head of Internal Communications at Vodafone Germany mentions: “the platform is easy to maintain. For instance, our team uses Wordpress to easily add news updates in the app in real time. The app also enables us to send push messages to employees about new developments and company news, regardless of where they are.”

  • Public and private area, secured with employee log-in

    The Vodafone Germany app is openly distributed via public app stores like the Google Play Store and the Apple store, next to a web version. Marijn Deurloo, CEO ORTEC for Communications: “The public part allows Vodafone Germany to reach new target groups that also represent Vodafone through their daily work, such as people working for partner companies or suppliers.”

    Behind the public content, the Vodafone MitarbeiterAPP has a second level for which employees must authenticate. Behind this authentication lies more functionality, which becomes available to the user only after authentication like special offers for employees.

  • Increase employee engagement

    One of the focal points of Vodafone Germany is to increase employee engagement by the Vodafone MitarbeiterAPP. Steffen Henke, Head of Internal Communications at Vodafone Germany: “The V-app is easy to use and strengthens our employee’s feeling of belonging and engagement.” To ensure that all employees are fully informed and engaged, the app bundles the latest internal news, company stories and existing content from all areas of the company. Employees can also add multiple Vodafone sources by creating their own news channel in the app.

    The metrics that matter most are those that tell you if your communications strategy is helping you meet your organization’s overall goals. ORTEC's analytics platform provides insight into the reading behaviour of the app to learn from the content that is offered and continuously optimize the news.
