We’ve just gotten used to Cloud Computing; internet based computing that enables enterprises to reach business data on demand. By the arrival of Cloud Computing we got to know the IoT, the internet of things. The IoT is producing enormous amounts of data. So much that the cloud servers we rely on might not be able to deal with it any longer. As a result, there will rise a new system sooner than later: Fog Computing.
What is Fog Computing?
Fog Computing is often interchanged with the term ‘Edge Computing’. It supports the Internet of Things. Basically it means that there will be a better operational connectivity between a server core and data hungry devices which are placed at the edge of the network. Fog Computing optimizes Cloud Computing performance to the mobile users.
The main reason of developing the Fog Computing Network is to extend the lifecycle of hardware related to cloud servers. In a regular situation the hardware of a web server is close to 6 years. Currently the lifecycle of hardware related to cloud servers is only 2 years caused by the enormous amount of data that the IoT is providing, by the advent of Fog Computing systems the lifetime could be extended up to 8 years.

- Bridging the gap between data and its users
- The IoT becomes the IoE, the Internet of Everything
- Latency is low
- Less demand for bandwidth

Think twice, by the advent of Fog Computing business data is accessible actually as fast as you want, anywhere you want without latency. The other benefit for internal communications is the IoT or IoE becoming reality. As said Fog Computing optimizes the performance of Cloud Computing. As the IoT relies on Cloud servers, working with internet connected devices will be as great as we all imagine it to be.
