This week, the dynamic partnership between our partner The Reference and training support centre Energy Lab (Golazo) lead to the launch of an original sports app with the name ‘MyClimb.’ This time, cyclists – who are not afraid of facing great slopes – will be well served. ‘MyClimb’ is available for Android and iOS, and aims to fully prepare athletes for various mountain biking events. Users can check location details and training information in preparation for four brilliant international cycling events from their smartphones and tablets. The app, which contains Energy Lab’s training guidance and practical information about the climbs, was built using imgZine technology.
‘MyClimb’ is the result of an intense collaboration between Energy Lab, the specialist in sports training and coaching and The Reference/Mobile, the mobile division of the Ghent full service digital agency The Reference. “We emphasized that imgZine’s technology was the best option to build this new sports app” says Frédéric Schroyens of The Reference/Mobile. “imgZine provides all the features (sharing on social media, article ratings, Twitter feeds, etc) we wanted to integrate in this bilingual (EN/FR) app, allowing for a beautiful intuitive design with the glossy look and feel of a magazine. Using this technology, the websites of the various cycling events can ‘feed’ the app instantly with new content. All channels will be kept up-to-date, which is very important to meet the communication needs around these sporting events.”
“With the new app, we want to provide the participants of the Passo dello Stelvio (2.785m), Les Trois Ballons (1.424m), La Marmotte (2.645m) and Climbing for Life (Tourmalet) (2.115m) all the information they need to optimally prepare for the strides,” says Kristof De Smet, managing director of Energy Lab. This means that both training schedules, training advice and nutritional advice, as well as calculators for heart rate zones and climbing time are available within the app. The Reference advised us correctly in choosing the imgZne platform. All relevant training information for these cycling events can now be promoted and supported through mobile in a fast and convenient way.
