The 4S’ model

It seems like the happiest workplaces have these 4 things in common.

Social

As humans we are the most social mammals on the planet; social relationships have a greater effect on our happiness than for instance income or health.
How can you adopt this in your organization? Simply by providing social activities such as: team diners or drinks, sports day or meet ups with the companies’ CEO.

Structure

When looking at our agenda we can simply categorize our activities in sleeping/resting, working and other things we are passionate about. You might be able to foster these passions in the workplace. An employee can bring so much from outside of the workplace. Then it’s the work structure that allows our passions to be a big part of our lives.

Stimulation

The magic of stimulations comes from learning something new. As an organization the ultimate goal to pursue here is the point between ‘value giving’ and ‘value getting’. It means things as; career opportunities, regular performance sessions and personal development.

Story

Every organization has its story, what is yours? Make sure your employees feel they are part of something bigger than their job or department. Ensure the organizations mission captures the heart.
