What will the workplace of tomorrow look like?

Hester Gras

In their 2015 Mobile Workforce Report, Dimension Data and VMWare provide insight into the market’s position on this concept within the workspace. They conducted research across 12 regions across the globe that have been grouped into five key markets: the US, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, and Australia. Very interesting is that the statistics outlined in the report put that employee preference is now a driver of IT strategy in most organizations. The end-user is firmly in the middle of every decision. Employees are no longer satisfied with a corner office, and prescriptive technology such as a fixed-line telephone and a desktop PC. They are becoming more demanding and want flexibility, a work-life balance and to be constantly challenged. This demand for flexibility includes access to anyone and working anytime, and anywhere, outside of the office.

In order to remain competitive and grow, there’s no going back – Organizations should collaborate within innovative workspaces and use new technology to support flexible ways of working. The result is that companies that were adamant that no consumer device would be allowed to enter the corporate network, are now encouraging employees to adopt their preferred platform.
